Koscielny quashes transfer talk

Laurent Koscielny insists he has no desire to leave Arsenal this summer even though he is being linked with a transfer to Marseille. The 31-year-old France international defender has been with the Gunners for seven years and has made more than 200 Premier League appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side following his £9.7million switch from Lorient.

He has been a solid performer for Arsenal since arriving at the club in 2010 but in 2017/18 the north London outfit will not be competing in the Champions League after they only finished fifth in the Premier League in the campaign just ended.

Koscielny signed a new contract with Arsenal during the season but that has not helped to quash speculation that he could be heading back to Ligue 1.

Marseille signed Dimitri Payet for £25million from West Ham United in January and are keen to bolster their squad further in the next few weeks.

However, Koscielny said: “I have a contract with Arsenal, I even signed an extension last November until 2020.

“I have always said that I was a Marseille fan when I was younger. When a mythical club like Marseille contact you, it is good. But will I sign for them? I have no idea at all.”

Arsenal can be backed at 12/1 to win the Premier League title in 2017/18 and at 1/1 to finish in the top four while they are available at 9/1 to clinch the Europa League.
